    There are a variety of content creators and bloggers who live the healthy lifestyle and show it to the world to help others who are interested in their specific food and dietary choices. Here are some healthy living influencers that have a large impact on the world of healthy living;

Whenever you’re making the decision to eat better what is the first objective that comes to your mind?

Do you think about what foods you may need, maybe how to exercise, or what dietary plan to follow? Do you ask a peer for advice or maybe just assume the general idea of eating better is no “junk food” or any soda.

Although the general idea of healthy eating is straightforward, there are a variety of important details and strategies that play a part in improving your eating habits.

Building a balanced diet is one of the most important factors when you’re beginning to eat better and live healthier.

You want to focus on balancing your diet in rich fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. And choose to consume lean proteins, nuts, and healthy fats, while also limiting sugars, salts, and highly processed foods.

Adopting good eating habits like enjoying your meals and eating slowly to prevent overeating, drinking plenty of water as often as possible, and understanding the intake of your portion sizes of your foods can be greatly beneficial as well.

When eating through a “living well” based diet consumers prioritize variety and many whole foods. Filling half of your meal with fruits or vegetables and splitting the other half into two quarters, one of whole grains and the other consisting of lean proteins. While still following the regular diet limitations on sugars, salts, and processed foods.

You should build a constant eating pattern over time that includes nuts, beans, fish, low-fat dairy, and lean meats while avoiding unhealthy fats and excess sugar, because keeping consistency in your eating habits is the most important key in staying healthy.

The 3-3-3 Method is a great way to start for anyone who is trying to find a balanced way for eating. It focuses on creating a variety of balanced meals by selecting three proteins, three fat sources, and three carbohydrates for your meals.

Establishing a solid nutritional foundation while also allowing the consumer to create a variety of healthy combinations for their own unique tastes in meals.

A diagram from a short article by Stronger Nutrition University shows how beneficial this method can be for anyone looking for a simple approach to keeping a balanced palate.

“A great tip for beginners to macro tracking can be to keep things simple in your first few weeks. Try the 3-3-3 Method. Choose 3 different protein sources, 3 fat sources, and 3 carb sources only (All veggies and fruit can count as 1 each). This may feel like too little variety but with endless options of spices and cooking techniques, you can make thousands of combinations. There is no such thing as boring food, only boring chefs, right?”

    https://university.strongeru.com/home/3-3-3-method

Even though there are many variations, the general principle of this method is to choose three healthy options from each of these core food groups to build your plates and support your personal health goals.

With endless possibilities for spices and cooking methods, you can create thousands of different meal combinations from just those three items showing that the 3-3-3 Method stays simple yet provides confidence in your meal planning.

Another popular method is the 80/20 Diet Rule; thinking of your meals in a balanced percentage of 80% healthy and whole foods, with 20 % being for “fun” or less nutritious treats.

The key in this method is consistency over time, not having a perfected meal every time you sit down to eat. It is a healthier diet plan that is less restrictive plan for anyone who wants to enjoy their newly changed eating habits without the stress of constantly watching portions and percentages.

In an article by April Schetler, a registered dietician with Vitrua Health, Schetler goes into detail about how the 80/20 rule can be an easy and fun eating method while still staying a beneficial way to eat properly.

“Diets. Ugh. They’re either too complicated or too restrictive—or both. We’ve all been there: trying to follow a strict diet plan, counting every calorie, cutting out carbs, calculating points, going keto, and ultimately, giving up all the things we actually enjoy. Enter the 80/20 diet rule—a refreshing approach that lets you eat healthy most of the time but still enjoy the occasional treat. No counting, no guilt—just balance.”

“Just try to think of your meals in terms of balance. 80% healthy, whole foods, and 20% for fun, less-nutritious treats. The key is consistency over time, not perfection at every meal. So, if one day you have a pizza, no big deal—just aim to get back on track with your next meal.”

(Schetler, April. “What is the 80/20 Diet Rule?)

    https://www.virtua.org/articles/the-80-20-rule-eat-healthy-and-have-your-cake-too#:~:text=Just%20try%20to%20think%20of,track%20with%20your%20next%20meal

The 80/20 rule keeps a simple mindset for those who follow its guidelines helping to create an enjoyable experience while also providing your body the nutritional value it needs to live healthier. You get to indulge in your choice of treats without overdoing it and adding any unnecessary weight, unprocessed consumables, or unhealthy choices to your everyday eating choices.

Let’s review over some important details and some key habits for following a “living well” eating lifestyle:

    • Stay Hydrated: drink plenty of fluids, with water being the main choice.
    • Limit Unhealthy Foods: lower your intake of added sugars, salt, and all highly processed foods.
    • “Mindful Eating”: Eat slowly and chew thoroughly while watching how your body responds to prevent overeating.
    • Meal Planning: Planning and prepping meals can help you avoid last-minute unhealthy choices.
    • Variety is Key: Don’t focus on only consuming “special foods.” Aim for a diverse variety of healthy foods over time to ensure you get all the necessary nutrients.

Overall, your goals are to build a strong and balanced diet, make smart eating choices, and cultivate healthy eating habits as you start your journey through the world of eating better to live healthier.

If you’re ever unsure if you’re taking the right approach, there’s always additional resources that you can reach out to like local cooking or nutritional classes. As well as online resources like CDC Nutrition for tips, guidelines, and more nutritional information.

What is the first thought that comes to mind when you hear the word diet? Do you think of what to eat or specific supplements to take? Or maybe where to go to find your choice of diet’s specific foods?

If any of these questions pop up first in your mind, then look no further then United Market Street and their Living Well Department!

There are 19 store locations spread out across Texas each with an average of over 1500 customer visits per day. All together that’s 14.4 million customer visits annually to our Market Street stores. The Living Well departments have continued to provide excellent products securing our dependability when it comes to new and current shoppers who are exploring a dietary lifestyle.

According to a 2017 report by Deena M. Mato-McCoy with Supermarket News, the Living Well departments at Market Street attributed an average of 19.7% grocery sales at our Dallas/Fort Worth area locations. And an average of 7% at nine of the West Texas stores and more traditional styled hybrid locations that feature a limited Living Well section.

McCoy also interviewed Alicia Brown, who was United Supermarket’s dietitian and health and wellness marketing manager at the time about United’s Living Well as a whole.

“Our goal was to provide wellness solutions that are simple, easy and convenient for our Market Street shoppers,” says Alicia Brown, the chain’s dietician and health and wellness marketing manager. “We are dedicated to making this an effortless journey for our guests because the easier it is for people to practice healthy living, the more people will stick to it.”

“This dedication has helped earn the chain recognition and loyalty among its shoppers, as well as the title of Grocery Headquarters’ 2011 Wellness Retailer of the Year.”

“United’s founder, H.D. Snell, opened the first store in Oklahoma. His philosophy: uphold a commitment to value, high quality products, outstanding guest service and community involvement. The United chain, which is now run by the Snell family’s fourth generation, used this mission statement to establish a new brand targeted specifically at consumers eager to live healthier lifestyles.”

(McCoy, Deena M. “United Supermarkets’ Living Well initiative earns the chain Grocery Headquarters’ “Wellness Retailer of the Year” recognition”)

There are many supermarket chains across the U.S. but United has always set their standards much higher compared to our competitors from the day its first store opened its doors in 1916. Always providing quality over quantity because we value our customer’s specific needs especially when it comes to those who choose to live healthier.

The Living Well department consists of many staff members who will provide all the necessary knowledge on our wholefood products, how to get started on a specific diet, and where to begin on taking your first steps into a healthier life.

There are many different dieting options to explore but those who tailor towards living well emphasize eating whole and nutrient-dense foods instead of focusing on strict rules or calorie counting. The most common diets in the category of “living well” are the Mediterranean, DASH, and Flexitarian diets as they are often recommended by nutritionists due to promoting overall health.

    Mediterranean Diet:

-Emphasizes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans, nuts, and healthy fats, especially olive oil as the focus of your diet

-Includes fish and poultry (in moderation)

-Limits red meats, sweets, and highly processed foods

The major benefits to following Mediterranean are lowering the risks of obtaining chronic health issues such as heart diseases, diabetes, or certain cancers. It has remained the most popular dietary option with the diet being mostly plant-based, focusing on promoting mental wellness and longevity.

A short article titled, “The Mediterranean diet is the No. 1 diet for 2025: Why it’s still so popular among doctors, nutritionists” posted by Renee Onque with CBNC, states that the Mediterranean diet sits at the top of its list as it is a great example of a diet to follow for your health.

“A panel of 69 diet and nutrition experts, ranked 38 diets based on these criteria:”

    • Nutritional completeness
    • Health risks and benefits
    • Long-term sustainability
    • Evidence-based effectiveness

“The Mediterranean diet finds its way in the top spot of the U.S. News & World Report’s best diets’ lists often. That has everything to do with how great following the diet can be for your health. The diet is mostly plant-based, diabetes-friendly and heart-healthy, according to the report. And it is known to help reduce the likelihood of developing conditions like heart disease and Type 2 diabetes.”

(Onque, Renee. “The Mediterranean diet is the No. 1 diet for 2025: Why it’s still so popular among doctors, nutritionists”)

United Market Street agrees with Onque’s article as we provide a variety of products that align with the Mediterranean diet within our Living Well’s bulk foods section. There is a large selection of grains, nuts, and beans for our customers to choose from to create a comfortable pallet for themselves.

    DASH Diet:

-Emphasizes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins as the focus of your diet

-Includes low-fat dairy and nuts (in moderation)

-Limits salts, red meats, and most added sugars

The acronym “DASH” stands for “Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension.” This option is designed to reduce sodium intake to help lower or prevent high blood pressure. It has been scientifically proven to treat one’s high blood pressure and cholesterol which leads to improved weight loss as well.

The NIH (National Library of Medicine) posted an article titled “DASH Diet: A Review of Its Scientifically Proven Hypertension Reduction and Health Benefits” on this diet, talking about its dietary plan as it mitigates against hypertension and its complications.

“Numerous clinical studies, such as the PREMIER trial, DASH sodium study, and Omni Heart trial, as well as other studies, substantiate the DASH diet’s ability to manage hypertension. Beyond its profound impact on hypertension reduction, the DASH diet has exhibited notable efficacy in addressing an array of conditions such as heart failure, lipid homeostasis, dyslipidemia, and uric acid dysregulation. With its empirical foundation, the DASH diet emerges as an indispensable tool in the hypertension management toolkit, warranting its exploration and integration into various medical contexts.”

Market Street’s Living Well has realized the impact the DASH diet has on our customers that it tailors to. We continue to provide all the necessary consumables that align with the required wholefoods and vegetables. As stated earlier, our bulk foods section provides whole grains and nuts needed while our dairy section contains a variety of low-fat products to fulfill every customer’s needs.

    Flexitarian Diet:

-Emphasizes plants, fruits, vegetables, and legumes as the main protein sources for your diet

-Includes meat and animal products occasionally

This diet is mainly plant-based, and its specific pallet is more flexible as compared to strict vegan or vegetarian diets, allowing for the occasional inclusion of meat and animal products. The two major benefits of Flexitarian is a lower risk of diabetes and heart disease, and it’s easier to sustain for many people as compared to other dietary choices.

An article posted by Healthline, “The Flexitarian Diet: A Detailed Beginner’s Guide,” goes into detail about the Flexitarian diet and how beneficial it is for those who choose a vegetarian lifestyle and still enjoy some animal products like meat, fish, and dairy.

“The Flexitarian Diet has no clear-cut rules or recommended numbers of calories and macronutrients. In fact, it’s more of a lifestyle than a diet.”

“It’s based on the following principles:

    • Eat mostly fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains.
    • Focus on protein from plants instead of animals
    • Be flexible and incorporate meat and animal products from time to time.
    • Eat the least processed, most natural forms of foods.
    • Limit added sugars and sweets.”

“As a result of its flexible nature and focus on what to include rather than what to restrict, the Flexitarian Diet is a popular choice for people looking to eat healthier.”

The overall goal of Flexitarian is to eat more nutritious plant foods and consuming less meat for a healthier lifestyle. Since there aren’t too many restrictions, consumers can still enjoy having a say in what they eat while still following this diet’s guidelines.

Market Street’s Living Well values this diet’s guidelines and encourages the idea of eating more natural forms of food as we provide a variety of whole foods, no sugar products, and unprocessed consumables.

We strive to provide every necessary product that our customers require for their diet of choice, and make sure to answer any questions they may have about other options to eat and live healthier.

The next time you venture out shopping or decide to explore a new dietary life, join us over at Market Street and let us help you get started on your journey!

There was a time where I didn’t always think about the idea of a healthy diet or proper appetite. I had assumed people chose to consume their favorite foods and drinks every other day without any thought of the consequences.

Everyone has the desire to live their life comfortably after all, so why wouldn’t we enjoy the simple luxury of eating and drinking whatever we desire?

I had that straightforward mindset for many years, but it quickly changed as I began my exciting journey working in Market Street’s Living Well Department. It immediately opened my eyes to a whole new interesting dietary and healthy world full of beneficial information on not only what to eat, but how to eat.

Not everyone appreciates the idea of going on a diet since there are many restrictions that deter us from enjoying our normal eating habits. Yet there are a variety of flexible options when it comes to dieting and choosing healthier foods that many consumers may not be aware of.

Although diets tend to vary widely in their end goals, restrictions, and nutritional value or contents they are all beneficial in some way shape or form. Market Street’s Living Well strives to provide and share this information along with our products within our stores that fall into these specific dietary categories that our shoppers require.

Mediterranean, ranked among the most likable health-focused diets, aims at the heart’s health and overall wellness with its focus being on plant-based foods, whole gains, and limited red meats and processed foods.

When it comes to weight loss the Keto diet aims
towards converting your body’s main energy source to glucose instead of any fats that you
    consume.

If you’re concerned with any health-related obstacles, there is the choice of either the DASH or Whole30 diets. Both containing healthy eating guidelines and routines
that can treat bodily health conditions like high blood pressure or digestion.

Whether your goals or needs are weight loss, finding a plant-based diet, or medical requirements for your pallet, our United Market Street stores will always aim to carry and provide what you need!

And no, they didn’t pay me to promote that line, it’s just fact!

The more I worked, the more I learned, and the number of customers that I would meet who were seeking out our living well department’s products grew every week. It made me
truly realize how important our specific dietary and ingredient free items were to a large part of our community, and that is something I have slowly grown to appreciate within my time at United. It’s very difficult now to imagine every person that I meet and help being unable to live properly because they cannot find or do not have access to the food they need just to survive daily.

Just recently I helped a customer that was searching for a healthy snack alternative for her children because of severe allergies to common ingredients found in our Grocery Department’s popular products. I could feel the stress and worry from this customer as she had searched several other store retailers’ and found nothing that fit her children’s needs.

Once I provided a fruit snack that we carried without the allergen related ingredients, her expression immediately changed to a worry-free look and brightened up! That’s the type of customer service that makes the constant dietary research worthwhile for
me. I cannot imagine a different scenario where I had no way to provide any products for customers like her.

Just the thought of it makes me feel too anxious and almost useless in a sense.

One of our core values at United is offering a balance between quality and affordability. Many consumers will jump to the cheapest chain of grocery stores for their lower prices and availability, but there isn’t always that certain quality or brand variety behind what our
competitor’s provide as compared to our stores merchandise. We provide national brands, organic products, and private-label items that can offer a better value as compared to other grocers while staying in a comfortable price range for our consumers.

One common detail I hear often from our shoppers is that they find so many items at our stores that they cannot ever locate at our competitors or finding the same and similar products, but at a fairer price. They acknowledge our drive to obtain anything that they
request of our stores claiming that they will continue to shop at United for our variety dependability.

Our constant variety of brands and fresh provisions continue to draw in our community as we remain dependable, trustworthy, and always customer driven. With Wednesday’s being our day to introduce new ads & big savings and our popular Rewards! program, there’s always a way to save at United Market Street!

United’s stores all over the Texas and New Mexico region have provided fresh, organic, and wholefood products for over a century with the first United Cash Store founded in 1916 by H.D. Snell. In Sayre, Oklahoma.

The company has expanded its Market Street legacy to
over 96 store locations in 54 communities, all of which share the same goals to continue providing wholesome, fresh food and consumables.

Sure, having a large amount of cheap product is great and all, but providing affordable & quality product at fair pricing for our shoppers while meeting their lifestyle needs and expectations?

That feels even more fulfilling, especially while being part of The United Family, and the world of the Living Well Department.

    “Each store format was specially
designed to feed, inspire, and reflect the culture of the communities we serve and the always
evolving needs and wants of the guests we serve.”

    -The United Family

There are too many aspects and points of view to the phrase “living well.”

Whether its physical or mental health, social connections, or even financial stability. We all have some way of perceiving the idea of a fulfilling and meaningful life, and what steps to take towards reaching it.

It should not be about achieving perfection. It should be a journey that is about your individual values, circumstances, and aspirations while finding balance and contentment in all aspects of one’s life.

Ultimately, I believe the phrase “living well” is about taking action to live a life that is meaningful, fulfilling, and true to yourself.

United Market Street’s Living Well Department values this ideal, striving to put our customer’s needs first when it comes to providing the necessary products and supplements. This inspiration is shown every day by Jamie Brown, the head of the Living Well Grocery Department at a newly opened Market Street.

“The Living Well Grocery department is a subset of grocery proper, or “center store” in The United Family corporation. I have been part of Living Well Grocery for about 18 months, but I have been ingrained in the mentality and lifestyle of Living Well for the last 16 years.” says Brown.

Jamie underwent a life changing experience that altered the way she had chosen to previously live her life, targeting her dietary health and her nutritional choices.

She began a new journey to truly embody and live the concept of “living well.”

“16 years ago, I had an infant reliant on my body for all her nutrition, and when I ingested dairy products, it made her violently ill for weeks. My eyes were opened to an entirely different world, discovering how food can be both medicine, and poison.”

“On this journey I discovered my lifelong serious allergies and propensity towards illness, were a direct result of how my immune system interprets certain food proteins. I discovered my own mother’s Celiac disease and subsequent reactions to gluten in myself, my children, and multiple family members.” says Brown.

She realized how important the aspects of United’s Living Well Dept. were to its community of people who had a similar life altering experience as she had.

Living this specific dietary life opened a new perspective for Brown as she could begin to understand the conflicts and endeavors of our department shopper’s everyday lives.

“16 years ago, it was no simple thing to go to the grocery store and find safe foods. The selection and labeling then were nothing compared to what they are today. I understand firsthand the desperate feeling of a parent scouring ingredient labels to find a snack they can send with their child on a field trip, when the provided “sack lunch” would cause a devastating reaction.”  Brown adds.

“When I chose to move from Night Manager in our 24 hour location to daytime shifts, I knew exactly where I not only wanted, but needed to be; Living Well Grocery, because I have a very personal and vested interest in not only maintaining the allergen friendly choices within The United Family of stores, but the drive to see it grow beyond what it is.”

Our shoppers may not always have access to the products they need, or specific ingredients included in their diets as a large portion of their chosen consumables can be more difficult to procure over generic brands and common processed foods.

This is why the Living Well Dept. strives to meet every customer’s expectation. There are days where there is no other option for people, so we provide as many products as we can.

The Living Well community’s overall growth has steadily increased with current and future shoppers exploring a healthier lifestyle whether by choice, or due to health-related restrictions on their diet.

“The goal of Living Well Grocery is to create a one-stop shopping experience for families like mine. I no longer have to go to 6 different grocery and health food locations each week just to survive with our restrictions. I can go to my own Market Street and get absolutely everything I need. The time savings is invaluable, but also knowing the cost is competitive, if not better, makes it easy to trust where my money goes. This lifestyle is expensive, and families like mine make significant sacrifices in order to live this way.” Brown explains.

United stores all over provide a variety of specific products, with Living Well’s products averaging 7% of sales from the companies’ Hybrid and West Texas United stores, according to a 2017 sales report by Supermarket News.

Although the United company strives to exceed its profitable expectations, its focus remains intently on its shoppers.

    Continuously following its mission statement:

Ultimate Service, Superior Performance, and Positive Impact!

Our goal is to display our store & our department’s dependability, our ability to provide where other retailer’s fail, and to spread awareness of the living well lifestyle and its benefits to all consumers. Building a belonging as we are committed to creating a healthy future for our United Family.

“The Living Well Grocery department is not about sales dollars as much as it is about filling a need in the community. When we fill that need, it leads to exponential growth for the company as well as that community. It’s a beautiful thing, and I love having a part in it.” Brown says.

“It’s a personal mission with deep meaning, and every time I get the privilege of helping a mother and join her in tears of joy at finding a safe food, that personal mission grows just a little more.”
